Vintage 2017: Every year Rosily's chardies improve on the previous vintage, and so it is with the 2017. It's a rich, seductive, almost opulent white with layers of flavour. The oak has the upper hand right now, as is common in young Burgundies; this one has spent 9 months in partly new barrels of classy, polished Burgundian oak. It's added the cashews to the peaches here, while lees stirring and malolactic fermentation have added complexity. There are hints of butter, exotic spices and minerals to round off a chardy that reminded me of Chassagne-Montrachet.
